Friendzy Friday with Amanda!

Alright well its time for another Friendzy Friday over at Two Scrapbook Friends. I will be giving you a quick tutorial on how to create your own pillow box without using any die cutting machine or template.

I stumbled across this tutorial on Pinterest and it really caught my eye because it was really simple to do, didn't take much time, and you can adjust it to whatever you are using them for.

Here are all of the supplies that you need to create these really cute pillow boxes. You need a 12x12 piece of paper. I chose to use pattern patter so I could decorate it after with other papers from the line. You will also need adhesive of some kind, a butter knife or bone folder, scissors, a bowl or CD and your 12x12 trimmer.

To make the pillow box that I made you need to cut a 8x10 piece of paper so that when you are finished it will be approx 4 inches tall and about 8 inches long.

Then you are going to score a half inch fold on the longer side of your paper to create a flap to glue your box together.

Next, you need to fold the folder in half up until the edge is covering the flap you just created.

Using your bowl or CD round off both short ends of your folded paper. Then cut on the pencil lines to take away the scrap paper.

Then you will have something that looks like this.

Open up your folded paper. Using the butter knife or bone folder and the bowl or CD as a guide, score the outer flaps. Make sure you only score it. Make sure you aren't pressing to hard otherwise you will cut through the paper. The arcs will create almond-shaped indentations.

After scoring the paper you should have indentations that look like this.

and towards the sides should look like this.

After you have your score lines created you need to fold on your lines to create the flaps that will close your pillow box.

Once you have folded on all four score lines apply adhesive to your 1/2 inch flap and glue your pillow box together. Once your adhesive has set fold in your flaps on the ends of your pillow box.

Afterwards you can decorate your pillow box for any theme. I used mine as a party invitation idea.

I added a 1 inch stripe along the box and attached a popsicle for the summer themed party and popped it up to add a little more dimension.

I used some stickers that I had in my stash to decorate the front with Happy Birthday.

Finally inside the pillow box I created was a matching invitation for the birthday party.

If you need any further directions you can visit the blog I found it on here.  I hope you guys give this a try it was really easy to do and creates a really cute project at the end. I would love to see any projects that you create if you could upload them to the Two Scrapbook Friends layout gallery.

Its that time of the year again!!

Well, its that time of year again! Cottage time!! Every year my family rents a cottage in July and we all spend a week together. All three kids get to invite a friend and we have a blast!! We have rented a couple times but we really liked this one cottage we went to a couple times and we are going back this year.

Usually by now my family has been out ripping around on the boat tubing, wake boarding and knee-boarding but with all of us working now and some technical problems with the boat the week at the cottage is the first time we will all be going out.  I cant believe we are going into the last week of July already! The summer is flying by!

When we get to the cottage is is usually very hectic for the first couple hours.  We are usually all on everyone's nerves and just want to get everything unpacked and onto the water. This year my partner in crime isn't able to make it to the cottage because her brothers girlfriend is having a baby this weekend so she is staying home to welcome the baby. I am going to miss my tubing and fishing buddy but i'm sure I will be fine.

When we are at the cottage we spend all day out on the water! We travel through some of the locks that are on the lake we are on and go to all these really neat places. In the morning we are fishing off the dock, taking our morning dip and lather, swimming across the lake, taking a canoe ride, or reading on the dock.

My dad has recently taken a liking to fishing so I am hoping this year I am able to go out fishing with him a couple times since him and I don't get to spend much time together.

I am defiantly looking forward to spending a week with my family. Like I said before, we all have a really busy life now because we are all working so spending a week together helps us all catch up again. We all have a lot of laughs because we all get along so well together.

I am hoping to get a lot of reading done while I'm at the cottage this week on my Kobo because Carly isn't coming. There will be a lot of sitting down on the dock relaxing and hopefully getting a little bit of a tan.

I will be sure to take a lot of photos while I am away and will be updating my blog when I come back i'm sure! Tomorrow I get to pack and organize things and then away we go!

My New Obsession!!!

Alright everyone I have a confession to make. I have a new obsession! I am glued to my computer screen on Pinterest all the time now! I used to go on the odd time to see what all the uproar was for but I am now hooked!

This picture describe me perfectly right now! Things I was never really thinking about all of a sudden are running my life. All I can think about is trying the new recipe I saw online, planning my wedding (and i'm not even with a guy), what my home is going to look like in the future, and all these new techniques to try on my hair.

I also have stumbled across a couple of my favourite men in the world! So I had to pin those as well!

Aren't they just unreal?

While pinning away I stumbled across destinations! Well I spent probably an hour pinning and reading about all the latest and greatest places to travel around the world. I have decided sometime I would like to go somewhere tropical! I have only been to California so traveling somewhere different would be really neat! But I guess I would have to get on a plane first...

Yesterday I found myself planning my own wedding over Pinterest. I came home from work last night and my mom asked if I was planning on getting married anytime soon because of all the pinning I did about my wedding! I was looking at rings, wedding dresses, picture ideas, invitations, you name it I probably pinned it.

I absolutely love this ring! Not that I would get anything like this in the future but I can always dream right?

I also stumbled across my favourite flower while pinning about my wedding. Lillie's.. I LOVE the smell of them! They are going to be a must have at my wedding!

I pinned probably about twenty dresses but this one was one of my favourite. I just loved how flowy it was. Im not a girl who needs anything super big and crazy! This to me is perfect!

Last but not least I stumbled across this colour pallet and loved it! I have been on a purple obsession the past little while and i love these colours together. Purple and Grey are an awesome mix!!

Anyways, i'm off to go and pin a billion more things! Thanks for stopping by!  Come back Friday to see my challenge over at Two Scrapbook Friends

Design Team Reveal!

I am very excited to show everyone all the neat little things I created with my first design team kit from Two Scrapbook Friends!!  I was given Splash by Little Yellow Bicycle.

Little Yellow Bicycle has always been one of my favourite manufactures because their lines are always so fun and colourful!

I just love the pattern papers that they come out with every time.  They are a really nice weight and have a little bit of a texture to them to add a different look to your projects. They also come out with really cute embellishments to go along with the paper line.

I just love these small die cuts! I had a lot of fun using them while creating with my design team kit.

These clear die cut items are also really fun to embellish with. There are tons that come in each package and have something for everything.

Last but not least is the journal die cuts! These are a really great idea for doing small amounts of journaling as well as marking a certain date on the projects that you create!

This is the first layout that I created with the Splash line. I thought the colours went really well together with the snow cone picture I had from a long time ago.

I used the Silhouette to create my "cool" title.

I also added some stitching along the pennants to make them stand out more. I loved the colour contrast once I added the different colours of floss.

I also used the Silhouette to cut out this really cute snow cone as an embellishment for my layout. To finish the snow cone off I added a couple little snowflakes, some glossy accents to orange to make it look like a sweet treat and created a straw.

The second layout I created was one of my favourites! I just loved how the colours went with my picture so well.

I used the Silhouette to cut out a life jacket to embellish my page and then added a couple buttons as the snaps.

I finished my layout off  with some American Crafts Thickers and some other letters I had in my stash.

My last layout that I created was also another one of my favourites.

I used the wave paper and and cut out the waves in different pattersn and layered them on top of each other to make them look more real. Then I cut out some cute little fish from the patterned paper and then added some googly eyes.

I added a couple of different letters to create my title.

And added one of the journaling die cuts to state what month the pictures were taken.

Last but not least I created a card. I am not much of a card person but I had a couple things left in my scraps and thought I would try to make one and this is what I came up with.

Stop into the store to check the layouts and products out for yourself! You can also visit the Two Scrapbook Friends online store to check out the Splash line as well.
